Although a San Diego native, Michael found his way to the Bay Area by graduating from San Diego City College and transferring to the University of California, Berkeley to obtain his Bachelors degree in Political Science. After he graduated from UC Berkeley he decided to make the Bay Area his new home. While working towards his Bachelors degree, Michael held a year long internship with American Federation of Teachers, Local 1931. During this internship, he learned hands-on experience working with local campaigns by assisting with voter outreach, campaign planning and advertising. Additionally, Michael also interned for Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf. His work in the Mayor's office focused on community engagement, battling homelessness, and assisting the Mayor and her staff on many projects and community events. In his free time, Michael likes to participate in political activism, explore the Bay Area, cook, and chat with friends and family back home.
